Will the Mexican Psychic’s 2021 Predictions Again Prove He’s a Phony?

At the beginning of every year, psychic Antonio Vazquez calls a press conference to share his political, economic, sports, and showbiz predictions for the year ahead. The press conferences are popular and well-attended, but how accurate are the Brujo Mayor’s (Grand Witch, or in his case since he’s male, Warlock) prognostications? Not very. His 2020 predictions couldn’t have been clearer proof that he has no ability, only delusions, about foreseeing the future. Will the Mexican psychic’s 2021 predictions be any better?

Doubtful.

Let’s get to know him a little better and take a look at his previous failures —er, prognostications— before we turn to what he foresees for 2021’s future.

Who is Brujo Mayor Antonio Vazquez?

The 80-s0methng-year-old Vazquez has been making predictions for the last 30 plus years. The self-proclaimed Grand Warlock for Mexico may look like a wizard from Harry Potter with his white beard and disheveled hair, but he also looks a lot like another fictional character: Santa.

And he is a character. He may have more luck convincing people he’s Jolly Old St. Nick, though, because the self-proclaimed psychic is wrong way more often than he’s right.

Mexico’s Grand Warlock’s Past Predictions

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that, according to his representatives, his accuracy rate is 85 percent. I personally believe they either have no aptitude for math and are pulling numbers out of their butts or they have those stats confused because I’d believe it if they said that’s his error rate.

Ever since he came to my attention a few years ago, I’ve yet to see any evidence he can peer into the future. Most of his predictions never come to pass or are just flat out wrong.

For instance, he predicted Obama would lose his bid for re-election in 2012 and Trump would flame out and not become the Republican candidate for President in 2016.

In 2019 he said Trump’s wall would not be built. It’s still not completed but portions of it have been erected.

Last year he predicted Mexico would do well in the summer 2020 Olympics, especially diving. He also declared that a “tremendous war” would erupt between the U.S. and Iran in 2020 too.

Most noticeably, he failed to mention anything about a worldwide pandemic that would claim hundreds of thousands of lives in 2020, or how bad economies would suffer.

However, as the saying goes, even a blind squirrel gets lucky and finds a nut every once in a while. In 2018, he predicted Mexico’s shock upset of defending champions Germany at that year’s World Cup.

The Mexican Psychic’s 2021 Predictions

Vazquez predicts that it’ll be a good year for feminism around the world, but a hard time for Trump according to Prensa Libre which reported he said, “We see a lonely Trump, forgotten and those demonstrations that are taking place will bring serious consequences to the United States. Trump is not going to remain silent, he will remain strong until February but he will have many problems.”

The Brujo Mayor, or El Brujo as they call him, also announced that Melania might leave Trump, he’ll battle serious illnesses, and the police might come after him.

He again said Mexico’s president will have health problems this year, ones that will not make it possible for him to pursue reelection when his term ends in 2024. (He said that last year too.)

Vazquez also predicts an earthquake will hit the U.S.

As far as the coronavirus pandemic, which he didn’t see coming last year, he says, “There will be very serious problems in Europe due to the pandemic and the second pandemic is coming, which is not the covid but the economy, it will fall very hard and there will be more suicides than ever in the whole world.”

Is he a real psychic?

He thinks he’s a real psychic, but thinking you are something and actually being it are two very different things.

I like the way Coast to Coast AM summed it up: “his soothsaying may be more show than substance.”

I say it’s not a matter of “may be.”  It is just a spectacle.

  1. 85 percent? The only thing I can think of is that maybe in his youth he was more accurate because it doesn’t sound at all like he can tell the future nowadays! I don’t follow psychics at all. Although, if I think about it, there are prophets of old in all sorts of religions, and I don’t discount them, so maybe there are modern day prophets (psychics). I just don’t know of any.

That is such a thoughtful, rational way to look at it, Priscilla. The Virgo in me always gets annoyed with psychics, BUT…there are a couple who made me go, “Hmm…” so I’m always trying to remind myself to chill out and reign in my critic. All this to say that I admire your level-headedness!
