Shadow People and Cursed Objects: 13 Tales of Terror Based on True Stories…or are they?

From the creator of Haunt Jaunts, a travel site for restless spirits, comes a unique anthology where reader participation is encouraged.

Inside this book awaits a baker’s dozen of tantalizing tales of terror based on true stories…or are they? You, Dear Reader, will be the judge. See if you can tell what is based on fact or pure imagination.

All is revealed in the Truth or Fiction section. But no fair peeking. It’s bad luck to look ahead. With a book filled with accounts of ghosts and cursed objects, you don’t want to tempt fate, do you?

INTRODUCTION

The thirteen tales included in this anthology alternate between ones about ghosts and those of haunted objects.

We begin with a tale of a haunted object. A cursed chair rumored to bring sudden death to anyone who sits in it tempts a boy who is desperate to impress his friends with his bravery and bravado.

Next comes a chilling ghost story set in a weather-ravaged landscape. The father and his daughter who come to dwell there find themselves haunted by a ghost storm and one of its infant victims.

A young woman falls under the spell of a necklace that enchants her, but, instead of pleasure, it brings her nothing but trouble and heartache.

The ghosts from a haunted pond a woman ventured to as a child come calling when she least expects it.

A funeral home receives an empty black coffin, one made from the dead wood of a hanging tree. It needs burying, but it might not be empty after all.

A small army of the living battle with Civil War ghost soldiers who continue to fight in the Great Dismal Swamp.

Bewitched by a mirror offered at an auction, a woman buys it and soon discovers the glass has a deadly and haunting past.

Appearing to her in an old, broken television set, a little girl’s dead grandfather entertains her with his old acts –and then terrifies her with ominous premonitions.

Bullies dare a heavyset boy to enter a missing widow’s haunted house and then lock him in. The joke is on them, however, when the ghosts lurking inside reject their “offering” and come after them instead.

Enthralled by a ventriloquist’s act, an audience member ventures backstage to meet the magician and his life-like dummy. One she soon learns is actually the puppet master, not the puppet, and has a murderous mind of its own.

Every time something bad happens, a little boy blames it on an imaginary friend –one who isn’t so imaginary.

Putting the mannequin in the trunk of his car seemed like a good idea at the time. After all, it was a road hazard. But when it starts banging to be let out, a man questions how wise his decision was.

Traveling for work is hard. Dealing with a cut throat co-worker is exhausting. Staying in a haunted hotel leaves no chance for one woman to get some much needed rest. But perhaps it will afford her the opportunity to get some revenge.

All of the above described tales are included in the pages beyond and all are based on true stories…or are they?

That’s what you’ll wonder as you read. Then discover if you’re right. All is revealed in the Truth or Fiction section.

So what are you waiting for? A feast of mystery, horror, and intrigue about potentially real spirits and cursed objects awaits you. Go partake in the main course. Indulge. Devour. Enjoy. And best of luck to you discerning whether the stories are based on truth or not.
