One of A&E Network’s paranormal shows premiering this October is the ambitious World’s Biggest Ghost Hunt: Pennhurst Asylum.
Not WLGH
But don’t confuse it with the World’s Largest Ghost Hunt. That’s a different beast entirely.
The WLGH coincides with National Ghost Hunting Day every September. Teams from around the world simultaneously investigate a multitude of haunted places.
Difference?
So what makes the one airing on A&E the “biggest”?
It’s the longest continuously filmed paranormal investigation in television history. (So maybe “World’s Longest Ghost Hunt” would’ve been a better –just maybe not as catchy– title?)
Locked inside the legendary Pennhurst Asylum in Pennsylvania for two weeks, a team of five paranormal investigators document paranormal activity.
Pennhurst
From 1908 to 1987, Pennhurst Asylum in Pennsylvania housed more than 10,000 residents. Most of them were children who were confined in brutal conditions.
Recently, workers at the site have reported a sharp uptick in activity, including:
- Full-body apparitions
- Physical attacks
- Mysterious noises
Determined to get to the bottom of these claims, the owner has granted the team unprecedented access to the entire 110-acre property. This includes areas never before investigated and areas usually closed to the public.
The team utilizes cutting edge technology and their varied expertise to investigate the institution’s haunted grounds. It will be the most ambitious investigation Pennhurst has ever seen.

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, as well as obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
