Twitter Week in Review Haunt Jaunts Week Ending 10/2

I’m nuts for Twitter. It would have driven me nuts before (as in before I started doing Haunt Jaunts), but for blogging purposes? WONDERFUL! It’s an invaluable tool. I wish I had taken advantage of it when I was still blogging for Families.com. I have learned a ton, and I do mean a TON, about a lot of neat people and places just in the month I’ve been Tweeting.

FOLLOW FRIDAY

If you Twitter, you may be familiar with a phenomenon on Fridays called Follow Friday. (a.k.a. #followfriday and #FF)

If you don’t Twitter, Follow Friday is where you list certain Tweeters you follow. (Not all of them. Just ones that you feel like giving a shout out to that week.)

“What good does that do?” you may be wondering.

It’s all about the networking opportunities. It lets certain Tweeters know you dig them. It’s customary to at least thank them, if not give them a courtesy follow in return. People who follow you might also start following them and vice versa. If you want to grow your followers list, Follow Friday helps! (Not to mention it builds goodwill with other Tweeters.)

WEEK IN REVIEW

At any rate, Follow Friday reminded me about something I did as a blogger at Families.com: a Week in Review. I blogged in both Marriage and Pets. Since there were multiple bloggers for both topics, we’d use one post a week to recap all the posts we each made that week.

I come across a lot of neat Haunt Jaunts in my Google Alerts, but I can’t make full blog posts of all of them. Twitter has proved SUPER useful on this front. I shorten the link, write a quick blurp, hit update and voilà! I can still share the info.

Similarly, I run across a lot of neat Tweets about Haunt Jaunts and Halloween Happenings that I can’t make full blog posts of, but I can RT (re-Tweet) them.

However, I know not everyone who reads this blog Twitters. Yet, I know they’d dig some of the info I’ve come across, too. (Especially lately. Lots of info being Tweeted about Halloween haunted houses, ghost tours and walks and the like.)

So what’s a blogger to do? A Twitter Week in Review!

Below find my first one. It’s all the Tweets I made, RT’d, or favorited during the past week. (Excluding Tweets announcing Haunt Jaunts specific blog posts. These are only the Tweets about things I couldn’t make a full blog post out of, but that I found interesting, useful, or both.)

Nothing favorited…yet. The day’s not over.

Which makes me see a flaw in my system. Fridays might not be the best day for me to do a Week in Review. (I’d like to get ALL posts in for the dates specified during the week. So it probably would’ve been better to post this tomorrow, but weekends are tricky. I don’t always have time to blog. Also, this turned out a little long. Hmmm…the Week in Review may undergo some tweaks. Bear with me until I work it all out!)

  1. I follow about 210 people on Twitter and you are definately one of the most active, lol. I read all of them even though I haven’t posted a reply. I’m the same way with the blogs I follow as well.

  2. Author

Autumnforest: It’s a little overwhelming isn’t it? I just now saw all this for the first time since I posted it…a little loooong…which leads me to Julie’s comment:

Julie: GULP! Now that’s something to think about! I don’t know if I should be happy about that or embarrassed. (I’m sure there has to be a name for a person who Tweets too much. Like how people talk too much? I can think of a lot of names for people like that. Chatterbox, Chatty Kathy…I don’t want to become known as a Twatterbox or a Twhatty Tina…But there is sooooo much info out there…lol)
