Summer NBC Show: Persons Unknown

Last week I saw an ad for a really cool looking new show coming to NBC this summer: Persons Unknown.

It looks like freaky, mind-bending fun. The clip I saw (the first one below) immediately grabbed my attention. It reminded me of a dream I once had where I ended up trapped in a kookie little town. (Except I wasn’t abducted. I went there of my own free will, but I wasn’t allowed to leave once I stumbled on it. And unbeknown to me they placed tracking devices on everyone so they could monitor their every move. If you got close to the outskirts they’d get you.)

Persons Unknown reminded me first of that dream, but it also kind of reminded me of the Saw movies. The first clip especially suggests a similarity on that front.

It’ll be interesting to see how it shakes out. Might be just the thing to add a little spice and mystery to the summer TV viewing line up.

Alan Ruck and Jason Wiles star. Christopher McQuarrie (Oscar-winning writer of The Usual Suspects) is one of the executive producers. It’ll premiere Monday June 7th at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. CST.

Here’s a couple of clips to whet your appetite courtesy of NBC’s site.

  1. Reminds me a little of “Lost.” Finally, some original and suspenseful TV. I only ever watch comedy because drama is only 2 things on TV: Cops/lawyers and doctors–none of which are particularly that interesting…

Agreed. I get bored of the cop/lawyer storylines after a while. All the same. And I’ve had enough of doctors in real life…I don’t want to spend anymore time with them than I have to! Hopefully this will be something fresh and original like Lost started out being. (But has since become warped and all wrapped up in weirdo conspiracies and plots like X-Files…very disappointing. Almost over though. NEXT!)
