Speaking of Robert Englund…

Like I wrote about yesterday, his new project, Fear Clinic, premiers today. But his all time greatest role, one he immortalized, was Nightmare on Elm Street’s infamous villain Freddy Krueger.

It inspired me to implement something new, something I enjoy on other people’s blogs: a theme day. So, I introduce to you Movie Monday! From here on out, when and where applicable, I’ll be making Haunts Jaunts to the movies on Mondays.

Our first feature is the new Nightmare on Elm Street.

Since remaking horror movies always seems to be hot, and since it’s been 25 years or so since the original Nightmare on Elm Street hit the big screen, apparently it’s time to introduce a whole new generation of movie goers to the story of Krueger.

Nightmare on Elm Street (the first one and the third one in particular, but I admit I saw them all) was my favorite from the ’80s slasher series. I liked Freddy’s wisecracks. But after a while (like by number four, maybe even before that) the premise was wearing thin.

The new movie seems to introduce a new aspect to Krueger’s character we didn’t see much of before. Or at least that’s the impression the trailer gives. I’m kind of curious to see what they’ve done with this current version. What about you? What are your thoughts?

  1. Get out! They’re remaking A Nightmare on Elm Street? I LOVED this series!! I have always thought they should come out with a prequel, showing us how evil Freddie really was and end it with him being burnt and coming back to life in dreams. With they would, bt then that ight just be me, the writer. LOL

I can’t wait to see this version though. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  2. I remember they did a sort of flashback in one of them…as far as Freddie’s mother getting raped. But I agree with you. They should do a prequel. I think they’re going to start this one where you were saying the prequel should leave off…with him getting burnt. (Maybe they’ll show him stalking the kids, which in some ways is even freakier than in the dreams!)

Glad I also provided you with some new-to-you info. That’s 2 for 2 for me on these movies clips! WOOHOOO!!!
