Moon Resorts Las Vegas: An Out-of-This-World Hotel on Earth

Most of us can’t afford a trip beyond Earth via current options like Virgin Galactic or Blue Origin. Or SpaceX for that matter, even though they’re not directly focused on space tourism like the other two. But popping for a trip to Las Vegas? More doable. Which makes it a perfect location for the recently announced Moon Resorts project.

But as Travel+Leisure currently reported, Vegas isn’t the only place Moon World Resorts Inc. is developing new “lunar-themed” hotels. They’re also planning properties in the Middle East, China, and Spain.

For now, let’s check out what the Moon Resorts Las Vegas is planning to offer.

Rooms, Retail, Restaurants and Entertainment

Of course you’d expect to find rooms and suites inside any hotel. Moon Resorts Las Vegas will be no different. The moon-shaped replica will be big enough to hold 4,000 of them.

There will also be other things you’d expect from a hotel, especially a Vegas one, including a spa and swimming pool, places to eat and drink, retail space, clubs and lounges, and of course the Vegas staple: a casino.

Additionally, there will be entertainment space because this is Vegas we’re talking about. Shows are as much a part of the Vegas experience as anything.

However, in addition to a 2,500 seat theater, other entertainment options include a planetarium, 5,000-seat event center, and a 10,000-seat arena.

But the highlight might be the “active lunar colony.”

The Lunar Colony

If you read that last sentence above and wondered, “What the heck is that?” here’s how Travel+Leisure summed it up:

The colony, which will be in the upper half of the sphere, will “precisely mimic those [lunar colonies] now under serious active planning by Nasa, ESA, and many others.” And for $500, visitors can spend 90 minutes exploring the 10-acre space, using a “moon buggy” to pass over the craters.

Even just accessing this main attraction will be an adventure, with guests riding a rollercoaster-like “moon shuttle” that circles the exterior of the hotel suites on its way up to the lunar colony.

Um, yeah. That’s so something I’d like to check out. I’m curious to see if they’ll turn that into a reality. If so, I may find myself back in Vegas near the end of this century.

If not before. It’s not my fave place to jaunt to but it’s loaded with alluring stuff that beckons to me.

Projected Moon Resorts Las Vegas Opening

Right now, it’s projected to open in either 2026 or 2027.

  1. I’d visit the hotel, especially for the moon buggy, but I wouldn’t go to the actual moon because the trip up there would be in a cramped rocketship/shuttle of somekind. Clautrophobia nightmare! EEEEK!

Oh gosh. I hadn’t thought about that. I wonder if they allow you to do a simulation first to see if you could hack the space in space, so to speak. I suffer from mild claustrophobia. That might trigger it!

  4. Stellar! It’s gonna be out of this world! (Yes, yes, I went there. Ha!)
