Haunt Jaunts Top 10 Most Popular Posts from 2010

I thought it’d be fun to take a look back at which of the nearly 300 plus posts published on Haunt Jaunts in 2010 were the most popular. The following list is based on which ones got the most hits. (I listed hits accounted for as of today in parenthesis next to each of the post titles.)

There’s not all that many hits separating the first four or five. The margins widen amongst the top five, though. And number one clinches a glory all unto itself.

Were any of these your favorites? Were any other posts memorable to you?

10. Gearing Up for New “Ghost Adventures” Season: Teaser Trailers (1,318)

Go figure. My personal fave was What Does the Princess Bride and Ghost Adventures Have in Common? (and which was pretty popular for a long time this year), but for some reason this one ended up with more hits.

9. 15 Even More Hilarious Halloween Costumes (1,324)

Halloween was very good to me. I ended up getting a lot of traffic from Halloween Google searches and such. And the thing people seemed to be searching most was costumes –especially funny Halloween costumes. I ended up with not one, but two, funny Halloween costume posts in the Top 10. (Well, not including non-people Halloween costumes. If you count those then there are three Halloween costume posts in the Top 10!)

8. WTF Is This Thing? Dover Demon or Hoax? (1,376)

This is a relatively recent post. I only posted it this month, but thanks in large part to Doc Paranormal and other Stumblers, this one took off on Stumble Upon where it got over 1,000 views alone.

7. Reminiscing About the Phoenix Lights (1,397)

If there’s one thing this year has taught me, UFOs are hot. Even hotter than ghosts. Sadly for me they actually scare me (ghosts don’t) so I don’t write about UFOs very much. But maybe I should. People seem to like reading about them!

6. Halloween Costumes for Cats (No, Seriously!) (1,833)

I wasn’t expecting anyone to care a flying fig about Halloween costumes for cats. Dog costumes, maybe, but cats? Never thought it’d wind up as one of the most popular posts for 2010. Just goes to show you really can’t ever know what people might like.

5. Find Real Haunted Places (2,027)

This isn’t a post actually, but one of HJ’s pages. However, it’s written up as a post. I made it into a page for easy reference. (Mostly for myself, because I refer to it a lot. But I know I didn’t refer to it all of the 2,000 plus times it got hit on so others find it helpful too apparently.)

4. Screaming for Ice Cream: Haunted Ice Cream Parlors (2,267)

My friend Chris often teases me about my knack for incorporating food into anything and everything I write.  I confess. I do. I think I might’ve been disappointed if a food-related post hadn’t made it’s way on to the top 10.

3. Is This Why Donna LaCroix Was Mad at the Ghost Hunters? (2,807)

The thing I like about this one is it documents a big story from early on in 2010. Kind of neat to look back and reminder of what was happening at the start of the year.

2. Friday Fun: Top 5 Hilarious Halloween Costumes for 2010 (3,439)

This was my first funny Halloween costumes post of the season and man did it surprise me. I wasn’t sure how people would respond to my picks. Maybe they wouldn’t share my twisted sense of humor. Guess others appreciate the humor of these costumes too.

1. Key West’s Robert the Doll (21,730)

To my surprise, there was one post that was absolutely a runaway hit. No other posts even came close to threatening its lead. Robert the Doll was one of my very first posts of 2010 and it remained the one that consistently drew in the most hits week after week. As a matter of fact, it’s the rare day when it’s not top of the daily hits even. Not sure why this freaky little doll is so popular, but Robert the Doll absolutely is one popular little haunted doll!

  1. I loved 8 and 1. I can see why these were particularly popular, but all the others were wonderful too. This is a great idea for a post too!
