Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel has some pretty groovy 2022 package deals all season long. However, while perusing a Michigan Live article that shared them all (there are over 30), three in October especially caught my eye. Let’s check them out and you’ll probably see why. They might catch yours too.
1. “Somewhere in Time” Grand Hotel 2022 Package Deal
Dates: Friday, October 7 to Sunday, October 9
In addition to their over 135+ year history of hospitality and stunning surroundings, the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island also has another claim to fame. The 1980 romantic fantasy drama, Somewhere in Time, starring Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve was filmed at the hotel in 1979.

2. “Murder Mystery Weekend” Grand Hotel 2022 Package Deal
Dates: Friday, October 21 to Sunday, October 23
They haven’t announced the theme yet. However, they warn that “not everything is how it seems at Grand Hotel during Murder Mystery Weekend,” which is produced by Michigan’s own The Murder Mystery Company.

This invite comes from somebody with murder on their mind. Your invitation promises plenty of excitement and intrigue. However, beyond the glitz and glamour of this event lies something more sinister.
You and your party play the detective in this interactive game of mystery and murder behind the closed doors of Grand Hotel. Investigate the scene of the crime, interrogate suspects, and solve a murder. This one-of-a-kind event promises to be nothing short of a “Grand” ol’ time.
Upon check-in, receive your first packet of information and clues. Friday is the kick-off performance, which sets the tone of events and when the first murder takes place.
On Saturday, there is a brief gathering with the Detective, who explains the hunt for clues. (This also allows you some time on your own to enjoy the beauty of Mackinac Island and Grand Hotel.)
Come back on Saturday afternoon, when Act II is performed and another murder takes place. The evening concludes with three interactive mysteries, where guests in different groups will be rotated into the mystery experiences.
Sunday morning the mystery is solved!
3. “Halloween Weekend” Grand Hotel 2022 Package Deal
Dates: Friday, October 28 to Sunday, October 30*
*Note: Their site lists the dates for the Halloween weekend as Friday, October 28 to Sunday, October 31, but they likely mean the 30th instead. Especially because they’re also running a “Close the Grand” deal from October 30 to 31 and are closing on Halloween.
As noted above, Halloween 2022 falls on a Monday, which is perfect for getting away somewhere for the weekend but being home in time to hand out goodies to trick or treaters. And if you’re going to stay somewhere, why not an elegant, historic, haunted hotel? Especially when it involves pumpkins, costumes, a haunted tea, and a haunted ball.

The ghoulish excitement begins Friday evening with dinner in the Main Dining Room. After dinner, dance the night away in the Terrace Room or sit back and watch spooky movies with a Halloween family movie night. Saturday morning wake up to breakfast in the Main Dining Room and Bloody Mary Bar; followed by fun activities all day, including a pumpkin carving contest and Haunted Afternoon Tea. Finish the evening in your costume with dinner in the Main Dining Room, then it’s on to the Haunted Hotel Ball!
Prices
Room rates are not for the faint of heart. A Grand King or Queen starts at $564 for one person, $639 per night for a couple, and increases from there.
However, when you consider it does include more than just the price of the room, such as movies, activities, entertainment, as well as breakfasts and dinners, the cost is a little more palatable.

Yes. “All” is, as always, an acceptable answer. If I could afford to spend all three of these weekends at the Grand Hotel, I would! Heck, I’d settle for just one night anytime!

The haunted ball sounds fun, but I love a good mystery. I’d go for the murder mystery package!
That one really sounds like a hoot! I have to admit, I’d probably pick the same. I love both ideas but murder mystery dinners…I’m cuckoo crazy about them. It sounds super fun!
