Can you rent the cabin that Knock at the Cabin was filmed in?

Maybe the better question is, “If you could rent the cabin where Knock at the Cabin was filmed, would you?” Hopefully, without any of the drama that unfolds in the movie. Unless, of course, you’re okay with strangers knocking on your door telling you they’re there because they have a very important job to do, one that “might be the most important job in the history of the world.” (Which sounds like a great premise for a horror movie but a truly twisted real-life dilemma.)

Anyway, I wondered a couple of things about M. Night Shyamalan’s newest movie, which is scheduled for release on Feb. 3, 2023. Namely, where was it filmed? Is that a real cabin, and if so, is it for private use only, or is it available to rent? So I did some digging, and here’s what I turned up.

Knock at the Cabin Filming Location

The first step was figuring out where Knock at the Cabin was filmed, which was pretty easy thanks to IMDB and LatLong.net. It was filmed in New Jersey, specifically Tabernacle, a township in Burlington County, which is about an hour from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Some scenes were also filmed about half an hour away in Burlington, NJ.

The trickier part was locating the cabin, which I turned to a few sources to try and do. But before I talk about that, there’s something else I want to note about Knock at the Cabin‘s filming location.

Knock at the Cabin Filmed in Jersey Devil Territory

Tabernacle is a hop, skip, and jump from the New Jersey Pinelands National Reserve, which is part of an area known as the New Jersey Pine Barrens, an area rich with paranormal folklore and myths.

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA) lists a couple of ghost towns and other unique places that aren’t far from Tabernacle, including the Carranza Memorial and Friendship. The memorial honors Emilio Carranza, “the Lindberg of Mexico,” as Weird N.J. called him. Carranza’s plane crashed at the site in 1928. Friendship was a former “cranberry town,” where today you can see its abandoned foundation ruins.

Missing from PPA’s list, but that Weird N.J. wrote about, was Ong’s Hat, a Pine Barrens ghost town that may also be a “portal to another dimension.”

In recent years, Pine Barrens Bigfoot sightings have made the news. It’s why the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) now offers it as one of their expedition destinations.

But the mythic creature that really put the Pine Barrens on the map is the Jersey Devil. Witnesses describe it as some sort of winged, bipedal part animal, part dragon, part demon creature. Whatever it is, those who have been fortunate (misfortunate?) enough to see it say it also moves lightning fast and issues forth a blood-curdling scream.

Wonder if any of the Knock at the Cabin cast or crew had any Jersey Devil encounters during filming? You know I’ll be keeping my ears out for any stories about that.

Anyway, so now let’s see if we can find the cabin. Just in case you want to set-jet to stay where a movie was filmed while searching for the Jersey Devil.

Where’s the cabin?

Well, if the cabin in Knock at the Cabin is available on VRBO or Airbnb, I didn’t see it. I also didn’t spot it on LocationsHub, a film location listing site.

So the search to figure out exactly where the cabin is continues. If you’re familiar with the area and happen to know, please shout!

  1. I haven’t been to the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I wonder if the cast or crew saw a Jersey Devil OR heard/saw a Big foot!

Wouldn’t it be awesome if they had? And if it inspired a new M. Night Shyamalan movie?

Which, wow. I just realized how greedy my first reply was. Knock at the Cabin hasn’t even come out yet and here I’m already demanding more. Sheesh! lol

  4. Im from Tabernacle, NJ! I’ve lived in OH for the last 12 years. I would love to know where exactly the cabin is. *If* it does exist, my guess is that it’s a cabin at one of the scout camps (Boy Scout or Girl Scouts). There are a few camps in Tabernacle and surrounding towns that have cabins similar to this.

WOW!!! Hey, this is so cool to hear from someone who hails from Tabernacle! It gives me (and any others who happen to find the post and read the comments) another avenue to search. I had no idea “scout camps” were in the area. Never even thought of looking at it from that angle. And if those are the kind of cabins they have…NICE! Now I really want to know if it’s rentable. That’s my kind of “roughing it!” lol Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge!
