A Lifestyle Site for Restless Spirits Who Enjoy Exploring the Dark Side
True Crime | Horror | The Paranormal

Courtney Mroch (Page 12)

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.

Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.

After watching the trailer for True Detective: Night Country, I wondered a couple of things. The first was whether 30 Days of Night was based on a true story. (Minus the vampires, of course.) Because like 30 Days of Night, which was set in Barrow, Alaska, (or Utqiagvik as it’sContinue Reading

The wait finally ended. Natalia Speaks, the much-anticipated follow-up docuseries to ID’s 2023 bombshell docuseries, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, premiered at the start of this year. (Originally, ID said it’d be released in late summer of 2023.) One key player, Natalia herself, wasn’t among those interviewed in theContinue Reading

In: Lifestyle

Wait. Where have I been? Rage rooms are a real thing? I always thought having a place to smash, bash, and destroy things at will would be such a great stress reliever. Maybe I’d heard about such a place or that someone wanted to create such a space, but untilContinue Reading

“Do they mean bottles trees?” I wondered when I read the headline about “eerie witch bottles” washing up on a Texas beach. There were a few reasons I questioned it. For one, the accompanying photo looked more like the type of bottle you’d find on a bottle tree. For another,Continue Reading

Updated December 1, 2023 “These magnificent purple and green lights aren’t auroras. This is Steve.” That CNN article title caught my eye for two reasons. One, it referenced auroras, the colorful night sky phenomenon I’m hoping one day to see in person for myself. But also because I wondered ifContinue Reading

Updated Nov. 30, 2023 Okay, in all honesty, I don’t know how popular Murdle puzzles truly are. However, it’s one of those things I keep seeing, so I’m guessing it’s fairly popular. Since I love fun and games, FOMO finally got the best of me. I decided to check itContinue Reading

A vampire beauty pageant? By all accounts, that’s what the post of an old black-and-white photo of a man crowning a gothic-looking dark-haired woman portrayed. Back when I was still on what was known as Twitter, someone I followed posted it. He’s since deleted his account, or I’d share itContinue Reading

“What the heck is a rat tour?” I wondered as I watched The Drew Barrymore Show playing on a screen while I stood in line waiting to order at McAlister’s recently. “Say what? Is there seriously such a thing?” I didn’t get to see more. The line advanced, and itContinue Reading

You might’ve heard of Movember, a movement that describes itself as “an annual event involving the growing of mustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.” But what about Gnomevember? “Whatever happened to McKamey Manor?” I wondered not too long ago. In one of those serendipitous twists of fate, the Universe answered in an unlikely way. I was flipping through Hulu last week to see what new shows they had for Friday the 13th weekend, and boom. That’s when IContinue Reading
