Where to See Nick Groff Talk about Leaving Ghost Adventures

One of the most popular posts I’ve ever published on this site was “Paranormal Lockdown Cancelled? What’s Next for Nick Groff?” It’s pretty much been a Trending Today top five ever since.

Because it’s always trending, I often wonder what Nick’s up to. I did write a brief update post about how after Paranormal Lockdown ended, he created a streaming platform, Vidi Space, with Elizabeth Saint and Justin Narragon. (Thanks again for the 411 on that, Bast.) But I never followed up beyond that.

However, during a Twitter Haunted Hour, a Tweet from one of the regular attendees, Mila, caught my eye. She responded to a comment someone else had made wondering if there’d been a recent uptick in paranormal activity since the lockdown (the coronavirus-induced one).

Mila explained they’d talked about it during a previous #HauntedHour, but she’d just watched something where Elizabeth Saint had addressed that during her hour of the show.

She also shared a link to her blog post that she’d written, which included Nick Groff appearing on the same show and speaking about leaving Ghost Adventures during his hour.

I made a note to watch when I had time. I was curious to see what Nick had to say. How refreshing would it be to hear from him than the social media rumor mill?

Anyway, I finally had time to watch, and here’s what I learned.

I’ve also embedded the link below so you can watch for yourself, because if you liked Nick Groff before, this will confirm why. He’s a super cool, likable guy. I was surprised how down to Earth and approachable he seemed. I have to admit, I was expecting more of the arrogance Zak presents, but nope. That’s not the image Nick Groff portrays at all.

Dead Air Resurrected

The show Mila had shared was Dead Air Resurrected with George R. Lopez, Ken DeCosta, and Mike Boleron on The Paranormal Channel.

What Nick Said –and Didn’t Say– About Leaving

Nick said that since season 10 he had no part in the production of Ghost Adventures.

The Dead Air Resurrected guys asked him to clarify what had happened and to address if he was bitter and angry.

Nick admitted he had been bitter and angry a bit at first, but now? No. What’s the point? He’s over it, life has moved on and so has he. He’s got lots of new irons in the fire –and not all of them are paranormal.

So no, there’s no reason to be negative anymore. He knows he did nothing wrong –meaning he didn’t leave because he wanted more money or more of the spotlight. None of those rumors are true.

However, he didn’t address exactly what happened to make him leave. He said he preferred to just clarify what was not true and maybe one day he’d address the whole of it, but for now it was better to focus on the positive because dwelling on the negative accomplishes nothing.

He did speak about the creation of Ghost Adventures, though. Zak is the face of the brand now, and has been for a while, but did he create it? No. It was Nick’s idea. He’d brought Zak into the mix after Aaron, who Nick had known first. I didn’t know that, did you?

That’s just among some of the surprising gems he revealed during his Dead Air Resurrected chat.

Nick Groff Investigates

The other thing the Dead Air Resurrected guys and viewers watching the show live wanted to know was: What about Paranormal Lockdown? Any chance he’d bring that back?

Maybe not. As Nick put it, a 24-hour lockdown on Ghost Adventures was one thing, but making it 72 hours? Brutal.

However, he’s got a new show, on Vidi Space, of course, called Nick Groff Investigates.

For some reason, I thought it was already out. But Nick’s interview was only a month ago and he was saying they were hoping to release the show soon after finishing some final edits.

But it sounds interesting and a bit different from past projects. It showcases 10 haunted locations enriched in different histories, hauntings and theories. It’s conceptually different and he stressed it’s about gaining different perspectives from different people. He wants to maintain an open mindset with this new show, to be open to whatever happens, and not try to invoke a bullying atmosphere.

He also stressed that as time passes he continues to evolve and fill his own shoes. He wants to push the paranormal forward by thinking outside of the box. That might even mean using less tech, because gadgets are great for validating personal experiences but there’s more than just tech. (Sentiments I share, but those were his words.)

Will he find it in his approach with Nick Groff Investigates? Don’t know but it’ll be interesting to see.
