ScareFest in Lexington, KY This Weekend

Thanks to Twitter, and specifically a tweet by Chip Coffey, I learned about ScareFest this weekend in Lexington, Kentucky. (FYI, Mr. Coffey will also be one of the guests.)

How I wasn’t aware of this, I don’t know. ScareFest boasts that it’s the largest horror and paranormal convention in the United States. I’ll tell you what, it just very well may be. They certainly have an impressive lineup of guests! So many they have them broken down into Horror Guests and Paranormal Guests just to keep track. Here’s a sample of some of the celebs that’ll be attending:

HORROR GUESTS

This is not a complete list. It’s just a sample of some of the actors, writers, and FX people that’ll be there. (With descriptions of a few of the projects they’ve worked in.) Click here to see a list of all Horror Guests

  • Doug Bradley (aka Pinhead from the Hellraiser’s movies)
  • Dee Wallace (1977 version of the Hills Have Eyes, The Howling, Cujo, etc…)
  • Danielle Harris (Halloween’s 4 and 5, plus Rob Zombie’s versions)
  • Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead, Rob Zombie’s Halloween)
  • Kane Hodder (Jason in Friday the 13th VII, VIII, Jason Goes to Hell, and Jason X)
  • Robert Kurtzman (Dusk Till Dawn writer and FX, Scream Special FX, Army of Darkness Special FX)

PARANORMAL GUESTS

Just like with the Horror Guests above, this is just a sample of some of the paranormal celebs attending ScareFest. Click here to see the full list of Paranormal Guests.

  • Zak, Nick and Aaron from Ghost Adventures
  • Bill Birnes (UFO Hunters)
  • Patti Starr
  • Chris Moon (Haunted Times Magazine)
  • Michelle Belanger (author)

EVENTS AT SCAREFEST

Oh my, if horror and paranormal are your thing, ScareFest’s events will make you feel like a kid in a freaking candy shop! (Or maybe a freaky candy shop.) Here’s just some of what you can do:

  • Get married. Till Death do you part…or Death does part you. (It’s sure to be ever present!)
  • Get your blood sucked for the Blood Drive. (Donations benefit Kentucky Blood Center.)
  • See a movie. They’re going to have new ones (like the forthcoming Colin, featuring a zombie anti-hero), foreign ones (like the Swedish vampire flick Let the Right One In), and even a semi-oldie (Dark Night of the Scarecrow). They’re even doing Midnight Movies at the Kentucky Theater.
  • Don your spooky best and attend the ScareFest Costume Ball.
  • Get your photo taken in the glass coffin from Halloween 2. (The Rob Zombie version.)
  • Get your scare on at the Nightmare Haunted House.
  • Attend a seminar. (See Horror and Paranormal Guests above to get a taste of who will be presenting. Some classes require an additional fee.)
  • Book a haunted adventure to the Villisca Axe Murder House, Waverly Hills Sanatorium, or Bobby Mackey’s Music World. (Reps will be on hand from these three haunted places to help you.)
