Robert Downey Jr. to Star as Beetlejuice in Remake

There’s long been talk (more like wishful thinking) that there’d a sequel to the hit 1988 Beetlejuice movie. So will there be, or won’t there be?

Beetlejuice 2

If you saw the Wynona Ryder interview with Seth Myers, you probably got excited that she seemed to confirm Beetlejuice 2 was happening.

If you’re among those who’s hoping for such a movie, sorry. A rep for Tim Burton confirmed with Entertainment Weekly that there won’t be a Beetlejuice 2.

But there will be a remake

However, since other hit 1980 ghost movies have been remade (ie. Poltergeist and Summer 2016’s Ghostbusters), Burton is apparently having a change of heart and deciding a remake would be the way to go.

Burton has long held that he’d like Michael Keaton to reprise his role as the title character.

Previously, in his interview with IGN, for the promotion of his movie ‘Big Eyes’ the gothic director Tim Burton mentioned that he’s totally onboard for another ‘Beetlejuice’ movie as long as Micheal Keaton would still be willing to play the role of ‘Beetlejuice’.

Tim Burton added, “There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael.

But now it seems Burton is switching his tune.

Who will the new Beetlejuice be?

You won’t believe the actors who have expressed an interest in playing the part, such as Bradley Cooper and Chris Hemsworth. (It’s reported Chris had so much fun on the Ghostbusters set that he wanted to be a part of another iconic ’80s movie remake.)

And then there’s the natural choice: Johnny Depp.

I mean, come on. He’s a master at playing  outlandish characters with panache. (Captain Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, and even Willy Wonka in another famous movie remake.)

But, alas, the actor who will fill the obnoxious ghost’s rotting, grave-dirt-smudged shoes is…Robert Downey Jr.!

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, as well as obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
