Exploring the Sensational and Scary in Our Spooky Universe

Courtney Mroch (Page 57)

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, and obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. (Yes, really! As explained here.) That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.

Speaking of mystical, to learn how Courtney channeled her battle with cancer to conjure up this site, check out HJ’s Origin Story.

There are a couple of reasons Netflix’s newest true crime docuseries, Catching Killers, is so binge-able. For one thing, it’s short, only four episodes. Well, technically three because one of the cases is a two-part episode. However, the number one reason Catching Killers is so absorbing is because of theContinue Reading

They’ve traveled to other cons across the U.S. since 2012 with a variety of them. However, while theyContinue Reading

In 2020, a lot of paracons and horror fests found themselves pivoting and becoming virtual streaming events. But that went for cons of all kinds, including true crime ones. I’m not sure why CrimeCon has decided to do another At Home one this year, but it’s great for true crimeContinue Reading

After watching The Curse of Lizzie Borden, I couldn’t help but wonder: Is the house still haunted? After all, it appeared from the seance that Dave Schrader, Chris Fleming, Sam Baltrusis, and Luann Joly conducted during their investigation, it was possible they’d cleansed the house. When I got a chanceContinue Reading

New Orleans abounds with vampire stories. There’s even one about a pair of men known as the Carter Brothers, who some say were arrested in the 1930s for being serial killers, confessed to being vampires, and were executed.
