Netflix Geeked Week: What is it, when it is and which shows are participating?

Which Netflix shows are you a fan of? Any that you geek out over and binge-watch the second a new season drops? (Or, in some cases, when the first season airs.) Well, fandoms of Netflix shows rejoice…and unite! Netflix Geeked Week has been created for you!

And just so you know, this is a judgment-free zone. No matter which show(s) you love, you’re in a safe, understanding place to talk about it/them.

Because I get it. Back in 2016, when Stranger Things first premiered, I was among the millions who immediately fell head-over-heels in love with the Upside Down plotline that whisked me back in time to the 80s. (I was seriously questioning whether it was some long-lost show Netflix had discovered or something new. If it was current —which of course I now know it was— how had they captured the essence of the 80s and bottled it so perfectly? It still blows my mind! But back then it really confused me.)

I wasn’t as quick on the uptick with The Witcher. I’d heard nothing but rave reviews about it, but it took me months before I finally gave it a watch —and then of course promptly binged the hell out of it.

As we all know, cons still aren’t happening quite like they were pre-pandemic. However, Netflix is embracing the virtual world for their first-ever Geeked Week. Let’s take a look at what it will all be about.

When is Netflix Geeked Week?

It will run for five days, from June 7-11.

How do I watch and what will I see?

They haven’t shared all of the details yet. Other than the dates and that it will be virtual. So you can watch from the comfort of your home —or hotel room or campsite if you’re on vacation somewhere!

However, Netflix did state this is their way to give “fans a wide array of exclusive news, new trailers, live art, drop-ins from your favorite stars and much more about all your favorite Netflix series and films.”

From the graphic we know a few of the shows we’ll see will be new forthcoming series, including Resident Evil and Sandman, as well as existing shows like The Umbrella Academy, Lucifer, and The Witcher. No word yet on if we’ll see any new teasers for the much anticipated fourth season of Stranger Things though.

However, they advised bookmarking GeekedWeek.com and checking back for all the details once they’re revealed.

Oh, and in the meantime, they also suggested charging your devices, dusting off your best cosplay, and getting ready to geek out!

How much does Geeked Week cost?

This is the best part: it’s free!

  1. Lucifer, The Sinner, and The Umbrella Academy. I tend to like the first season the best and then move on to a different show. I wonder if that says something about my attention span.:-)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I wonder if a lot of people are actually really more like that though? I can very much relate. There are probably only a handful of shows that I REALLY have liked past the first season. Some I keep watching just to see what will happen, while most I end up giving up on…and have always felt bad about until your comment. I’m not alone. Maybe it’s more normal than I think and no one really talks about it!
