Kendall Whelpton, Steve Gonsalves and The House in Between

After spotting contact information on the press release about The House in Between, I reached out to one of the film’s producers: Kendall Whelpton of Robot Ninja Media. (The other producer is Steve Gonsalves.)

I was hoping for a screener of the film, which Kendall kindly provided, but I also got bold and requested an interview.  The worst he could say was no, right?

However, guess what? Not only did Kendall set up an interview with himself, but with him and Steve!

I was as excited as I was nervous to talk to the both of them. I’d been on a press conference call with Jason Hawes and Steve Gonsalves only a week or two before, but that was a call. This was going to be a video Zoom call. I’d never done a one-on-one with a TV star like that before. (Well, one-on-two.)

Nerves

My nerves quickly dissipated as we got rolling. They both couldn’t have been nicer or easier to talk with.

I’d also had a chance to screen most of the movie ahead of the call. (Everything happened really fast, within a day or two, of me reaching out to Kendall.) I’ll be writing a review, but here’s what piqued my interest most when I first learned of it:

1. It’s claim that it was a paranormal event years in the making. “Filmed on location, with over 10 years of documented evidence and experiences.”
2. The cameraman angle. (Kendall is both a producer and cinematographer, but the film included his POV, and not just from a filming aspect.)

Behind-the-Scenes

Have you ever watched ghost hunting shows and wondered if the crew, particularly the cameramen, ever have experiences? I have. But how often do you see any crew interviewed?

So, yeah, that’s why I was eager to talk to Kendall.

He’d been one of the cameramen for years on the original Ghost Hunters. I’d love to have asked him if he had any experiences then and how he felt about the paranormal. (Besides it being how he makes his living.)

But time was limited and I had to stay focused on promoting the endeavor at hand, the movie.

Did he have any experiences in Alice’s house? (The focus of The House in Between.) That’s one of the questions I asked him.

It ended up being a great one for them to say, “You’ll have to watch and see.”

At that time I still had about 30 minutes of the film left to watch. Did an answer await in that part?

Perhaps. You’ll have to watch to find out. (Or read my review when I post that.)

The House in Between will be available on 26 different platforms, including iTunes, Amazon, Vimeo VOD (pretty much anywhere you can rent or buy movies) on May 5.

But for now, here’s the interview. Like I said, they both couldn’t have been nicer. I felt it was a great chat. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. (And I’m so excited for others to see the movie so we can all chat about it!)
