The last Into the Dark season 2 movie released in the anthology series was The Current Occupant on July 17, 2020. That was the tenth movie in the season, but there were 12 scheduled. What happened to the other two?
Since Blumhouse Productions has new movies coming out on Amazon in their Welcome to the Blumhouse offerings and Hulu’s now released another horror anthology series, Monsterland, are there any more Into the Dark movies coming? Or did the series just abruptly end? And what about a season 3? Will there be one?
Let’s see if we can find answers to some of these questions, though maybe not in the same order they were asked.
Into the Dark season 3
According to Looper, Hulu has not greenlit an Into the Dark season 3 yet.
Remaining Into the Dark season 2 episodes
However, there are two more Into the Dark movies due out this year. Or were, if IMDB can be trusted, which it usually can.
The remaining Into the Dark installments are Tentacles and Luna. Both were scheduled to already have been released by now though, specifically in August and September, respectively. So what’s the deal? Where are they?
Did COVID-19 interfere?
It appears that, yes, the August and September 2020 Into the Dark season 2 episodes were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When will Tentacles and Luna air then?
Again, if IMDB is right (and this darn pandemic allows it!), they’ll drop on Hulu sometime in 2021.
But will it be during the months, August and September, that they were originally scheduled for?
I’d guess yes, since the whole premise of the Into the Dark anthology is to present a new feature-length horror film inspired by a different holiday every month.

Which holidays are Tentacles and Luna inspired by?
I know from the Weird Holidays & Observances page that there is a World Octopus Day. I would’ve guessed that’s what Tentacles paid tribute to.
However, World Octopus Day is in October, not August. The only sea-themed one I see is National Lighthouse Day on August 7.
Not that I have all holidays on my listing, mostly just strange and unusual ones, but even on calendar sites that include them all, like the National Day Calendar or, my favorite, Brownielocks, I didn’t really see anything except for International Whale Shark Day on August 30.
The holiday Luna honors also isn’t as obvious as I thought. “Luna” is “moon” in Spanish. Isn’t there a Harvest Moon in September? I doubled checked the Full Moon Dates and Names to verify. Yep.
Whenever I think of the moon, I think of sleep. There is a World Dream Day on September 25.
However, traditionally people associate full moons with people going crazy…and maybe even turning into werewolves. So perhaps Luna will involve a tale of werewolves and a non-traditional harvest of some sort?
I don’t know. Hopefully, we’ll find out when the remaining Into the Dark season 2 films are released in 2021. If they’re released. #PandemicBeGone #HopefullyTheVaccineWorks
