Thanks to Universal, it’s a big year for horror movie fans who love new experiences. In May, Epic Universe opened in Orlando, Florida, with the first-ever horror-centric “world” in a theme park, Dark Universe, where classic horror movie monsters come to life. In addition to the universe’s trademark Frankenstein ride, there’s a vampire hunters-themed bar, “stakehaus” tavern, and all the favorite horror movie monsters roaming around.
In August, just in time for the Halloween season, Universal Destinations & Experiences (the same company behind Universal Halloween Horror Nights) will expand its horror reach out west with Universal Horror Unleashed. Except, unlike Universal Halloween Horror Nights, it won’t end when spooky season does. It will stay open year-round like Dark Universe.
That’s right. Horror lovers can now get a fix of immersive terror whenever they want. Let’s take a look at what Universal Horror Unleashed will offer.
Inside Universal Horror Unleashed
It doesn’t open until August 14, so we don’t know exactly what it looks like inside. However, Universal Horror Unleashed released a teaser/explainer on its YouTube channel that provides a little background and preview.
Executive producer Shelby Hornea explained, “It is going to provide four amazing immersive haunted houses that put you right in the middle of iconic and terrifying scenes.”
- Universal Monsters transports you into the world of the most legendary classic movie monsters.
- Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer might possess your soul.
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre brings you face-to-face (or face-to-chainsaw) with Leatherface and his deranged family.
- Scarecrow: The Reaping transports you to a horrifying farmland haunted by scarecrows.
In addition to the haunted houses, there will also be “really unique cutting-edge entertainment and dining experiences,” like the Prop Graveyard (sure to be a hit with Instagrammers) and a tapas bar.
But what I want to know is what about people who love horror movies, but not haunted houses? Will Universal Horror Unleashed offer a lights-on tour like Halloween Horror Nights? Not sure, but I’ll keep my eyes peeled for info about that.
Universal Horror Unleashed Location
I’ve long speculated that Las Vegas is poised to become the horror capital of the U.S. Along with the Halloween Emporium & Haunted Tea Room and Zak Bagan’s Haunted Museum, you’ll also find Area15. The “experiential entertainment district” features live events, immersive experiences (such as the John Wick Experience), unique art installations, bars (including Lost Spirits Distillery), eateries, and retail outlets.
That’s also where you’ll now find Universal Horror Unleashed.
Cost
Ticket prices vary depending on the day. (Weekends are more expensive.) One-time general admission tickets start at $69 per person, which allows you to enter each haunted house once. Unlimited access tickets start at $99 per person.

I don’t scream. I might yell, but mostly, I laugh. Weird, huh? So, you’d hear some woman laughing her head off amid the screams.
BWAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I love that laughing is your reaction!!! I bet that throws the scare actors off BIG TIME! The ones I’ve known get off on scaring those like me…who flip the F out. But luckily I don’t pee or poop my pants. Some of them get a special thrill at scaring someone so much they have that reaction, which…well. That makes me super uncomfortable because that is not in my DNA at all. lol
And I’ve NEVER heard any of them talking about anyone laughing coming through a scare attraction so…kudos to you for being so freaking unique. I’m jealous of yet another thing about you!
