Old South Pittsburg Hospital Update and TWC Investigation

Back in January I wrote about how the haunted Old South Pittsburg Hospital was reopening. The new owner, Ronnie Dee, stopped by and left a comment with some additional info:

Hello everyone , yes I purchased the building. And we are in the process of cleaning her up from basement to roof. All the pics you see in the above article have been addressed and are no longer a threat to Osphprc. We have stripped areas down the brick to get rid of any and all mold you see pictured above. We are trying to get her opened by summer if 2019 for all to enjoy. Check out our Facebook page for updates.

New Owner, New Life

That re-opening post led to a jaunt down memory lane, which included revisiting some of the pictures I’d taken way back when. Among them were photos of the hospital’s graffiti wall. Ones I couldn’t share back then –at first, then just never got around to sharing.

Remember this show? That’s why I couldn’t share the graffiti wall photos originally.

But I could now, so I did.

Once again Ronnie Dee was on top of it. I hadn’t even had a chance to let him know I’d written another post before he left this comment:

Thanks again for the write up! It’s great to see all the experiences people have had in the building. Unfortunately graffiti makes the building look like a slummy dump that is not our vision of the building. She deserves more respect then peoples names and artwork on her walls. This may make some people angry and for that I apologize, but this does not coincide with what we want people to remember this building by. What may have started out as fun ended up being a mess with nasty words, groups dissing other groups and groups crossing each other’s names out. So it has all been removed from the building and we have a strict no graffiti rule in the building. Sorry folks but it’s a new day for a historic masterpiece.

No Apologies Necessary

It made me very sad to read the wall had gone from something positive to a place where para drama played out. Ugh. I’m glad he took that out.

Sure, the wall was sort of fun, but also a bit tacky. But in a kitschy way. I hadn’t been there in years to see it go from fun to mean –and I’m glad for that.

I also think it’s a great sign Mr. Dee is ushering in a new, respectful era. Good riddance to the old, and welcome to a cleaned-up, non-slummy dump!

In fact, he’s bringing a bigger, bolder vision to light. He’s transforming the Grand Dame into the Old South Pittsburg Hospital Paranormal Research Center.

TWC Investigates OSPHPRC

The reason the haunted hospital even caught my attention at all at the beginning of the year was because of an event I saw on Facebook. The Tennessee Wraith Chasers had a March event planned there, so I added it to the Ghost Tour & Ghost Hunting Events listings.

March seemed a long way off back then, but guess what? It’s March and this weekend is the Tennessee Wraith Chasers event there.

Paranormal Adventures Event Management is the company coordinating the investigation. Here’s what’s in store for The Wraith Ward at OSPHPRC on March 23:

Join the boys of the Tennessee Wraith Chasers as they Return back to the place that put them on the Paranormal Map Old South Pittsburgh Hospital in South Pittsburgh, TN. This will be the first event held at the location after it was bought and remodeled by the new owner Ronnie D and it will not disappoint. We have created special t-shirts, commemorative lanyards, and even a special photo opportunity with the boys of the TWC where they will operate on you or you can operate on them complete with a special background and props. A food truck will also be on-site for dinner and snacks.

ARRIVE TIME 6PM CST

MEET AND GREET 6:30 PM- 7:30 PM

INVESTIGATION 8 PM-2 AM

A portion of sales from this event will also be used to finish remodeling the building.

The only tickets still available are General Admission. They run $109.
