Last week an email arrived in my inbox from the community manager of Chris Lehto’s new project, the UAP Society. In part it read, “If you are tired of others’ gatekeeping results, of not having a safe and respectful place to talk about all things UAP, or if you even want to support new scientific investigation in the field…”
Well, that caught my attention.
The email also included a link to a short YouTube video on Lehto’s channel, so I went to check it out. In it, he briefly explained the UAP Society’s mission and launch date. I’ve embedded the video below, but here’s a breakdown of what it’s all about and hopes to accomplish.
UAP Society’s Mission
The first part of the description on the video announcing the society sums it up neatly:
After 80 years we still don’t know what the UFO phenomena really is. Barriers in the government, lack of funding, and a fractured community have kept humanity in the dark. Obviously, a different approach is needed. “UAP Society” is a discord community of enthusiasts, scientists, and anyone looking for a respectful place to connect with other people united with the common mission to find the truth.
J. Allen Hynek’s College Realized
Another thing Kehto explains in the video is that Paul Hynek, son of J. Allen Hynek, is on board with the project.
For those unfamiliar with J. Allen Hynek, he was an astronomer, professor, and ufologist who started out as a UFO skeptic. In addition to working as a scientific consultant on Project Blue Book, in one of his books he included a “Close Encounter” scale. It was, as Wikipedia put it, a method he’d developed to “better catalog UFO reports.” Is it any wonder he was a consultant for the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind?
J. Allen Hynek also founded the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS). As Kehto explains, Paul Hynek “…wants to continue his father’s work, but this time we will create a ‘Visible College’ using Web3 decentralized technology.”
UAP Society NFTs
In order “to fund the science and point it at the UAP problem,” the UAP Society will use NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.
They’ll reward NFT investors with open-source science and future UAP Society launches and whitelists and airdrops.
You don’t need to know anything about NFTs to participate. They’ll help educate you and guide you through it all.
Similarly, if you don’t want to buy NFTs, you don’t have to. You won’t have the same level of access as those who do, but they welcome like-minded people to invest their time and passion, too.
UAP Start Date
The whole mission officially kicks off on May 27, 2022, with the launch of a space balloon at 12 pm PT. It’s in conjunction with a paracon, specifically the UFO Disclosure Symposium presented by UFO Mega Conference, which takes place from May 27-29 in Vernal, UT.
They’ll also LiveStream interviews with some of the big names at the conference. The launch will be hosted by Luis Jimenez. Alexei Novtizky will handle balloon duty, and Jim Segala will coordinate the science.
