The Belangers: The Kennedys of the Paranormal Realm

Maybe I’m a little slow, but I just realized something interesting:

  • Michelle Belanger, “That psychic chic from Paranormal State. Author of The Ghost Hunter’s Survival Guide.” (as her Twitter profile puts it), and
  • Jeff Belanger, founder of GhostVillage.com, the host of 30 Odd Minutes, and the author of many books on the paranormal,

both share the same last name.

But they also share something else: a connection to some of the more recognized ghost hunting TV shows.

I already mentioned Michelle’s affiliation with Paranormal State. But I’ve also seen Jeff’s name on the credits of Ghost Adventures.

Now, I don’t know if they’re siblings, married, or what (I scoured both of their sites trying to find out), but I’m thinking they have a connection somehow. (If any of you know, please feel free to leave a comment enlightenting me!)

All I do know is that they’re both big deals in the paranormal realm. They are to the paranormal what the Kennedys are to politics in the U.S. (I knew that already, but it just now dawned on me that they shared the same last name.)

Hey, I never claimed to be the brightest crayon in the box! But like Terri of Entities-R-Us assures me, I don’t need to be the brightest to get a lot of coloring done. (I LOVE that!)

P.S.

Speaking of 30 Odd Minutes, check out the About Us page. If you roll your mouse over their pictures, you’ll see a definite change in their appearance. I think it’s insanely clever. Not to mention funny!

And something else I stumbled upon that was interesting was where else I’d seen Loyd Auerbach’s name. (He helped me out with some Haunted or Hype? info as well as was the inspiration for my Haunt Jaunting Behind the Camera project.)

On GhostVillage.com’s main page there’s a pic of him in the right-hand sidebar. Underneath it says: ghostvillageU: Join “Professor Paranormal” Loyd Auerbach in Ghostvillage U. for Certificate Courses on Parapsychological Studies. It then links to the page where you can learn more about the course and it’s professor.

Sometimes it seems like such a large world, doesn’t it? Then other times stuff like this reminds me how interconnected everything is.

  1. Cool find! I’ve always really believed Michelle is a lesbian, but maybe that’s just the vibes. He looks like he’d be her brother a lot! I would be shocked to find she’s married. I saw her once on a paranormal show and she was talking about how she performs psychic vampirism—draining people of their energy?? I don’t know. Sounded pretty out-there, but I suspect the way she goes about her psychic abilities is more about a religion and lifestyle and identity rather than development of a talent. I haven’t been particularly impressed with her, but then I really detest the show she’s working on, so that probably colors my views. “Paranoid State” has taken ghost research back about 100 years. Great post–you’re on top of everything!

Autumnforest…LOL! Oh my gosh, I really need to remember not to be drinking anything or needing to go to the bathroom before I read your comments. I love them. I never know what will come off your fingers! And I don’t know how on top of anything I am, but they did inspire this post.

Brad: THANKS! I will be viewing this later today for my answer! Much obliged you stopped by with this link!

  3. Thanks so much, Psychic. That was really nice of you to do.
