Suggestions Needed: Seeking Help With Hauntings in FL and CA

I don’t normally write about people with ghost problems. I prefer the paranormal tourism aspect of ghost hunting and like to write about haunted places people can travel to.

However, a travel blogger friend of mine who hails from Florida shared her experience with me. She asked if I knew anything she could do to encourage her ghost to move on. It was making her uncomfortable.

Then I got an email about a place in California that’s got some activity. They’re also looking for someone who can make it stop. (And are offering money to boot!)

Ghost removal is not my forte. I figured I’d put it out there and see if anyone else might be able to offer some assistance to these folks.

THE HAUNTED TRAVEL BLOGGER IN FLORIDA

A few months back my friend in Florida shared her story with me. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted her email. She was kind enough to resend, but today when I went to find it again…it was once again missing.

I’m certain I know how I accidentally deleted it the first time, but the computer ate it this time. I was guarding it until I had time to post. I’m too embarrassed to tell her my skill at keeping things safe in my inbox sucks, so I’m going to have to rely on memory. And that’s not too hot either.

Also, I’m going to give her a  false name and call her Tess. It seems to me she wanted suggestions for dealing with her ghost but didn’t necessarily want her identity revealed.

At any rate, Tess is having issues with an entity, which isn’t always unseen. It has appeared to her as a  black figure, possibly a shadow person. She catches it out of the corner of her eye, but also has seen it in her hallway and moving from one room to another.

I want to say she’s also heard voices when she’s all alone. She also may have reported other strange, unidentifiable noises happening in conjunction with her activity, which isn’t constant.

In fact, the last time I asked her about it was about a month ago. (Yes, I am that pokey in getting around to writing about things.) At that time she said it had been about a month since she’d had any activity.

The thing that really caught my attention was her dogs notice it too. They growl and bark at the hallway and a certain room, where it seems the shadow person seems to emanate from. They don’t do it at any other time except when Tess starts feeling things are not right.

Because that was another thing she shared. She doesn’t always have the uneasy feeling. Its only happens when there’s activity.

She’s not sure if it means to scare her, but it does. Here’s what I suggested she do:

  • Try smudging her place with sage.
  • Light candles, say a prayer, and declare only those who walk in goodness and light are welcome. All others must leave.

But I stressed to her I’m no expert. It’s only what I would try. I told her I’d write on my blog and see if anyone else wrote in with suggestions.

If you have any advice for Tess, please feel free to share it below.

HAUNTED LAGUNA BEACH MANSION LAUNCHES CRAIGLIST SEARCH FOR GHOST HUNTERS

I received an email on Halloween about the Unix Mansion in Laguna Beach. Since I’m jumping on it before I have a chance to inadvertently delete it or the ghosts in my machine can eat it, I can share the contents:

The Unix Mansion in Laguna Beach, CA is looking for a ghost hunter to solve their paranormal problem. Maybe your readers know someone who could help?

“Paranormal Activity in Laguna Beach Mansion Sets Off Search for Ghost Hunter”

The residents of the Unix Mansion think they’re being haunted by an unfriendly spirit, and they’ve launched a Craigslist search to find a ghost hunter who can help them.

The linked portion took me to a press release, which sort of surprised me. The mansion’s owners put an ad on Craigslist offering $1,000 to anyone who can rid their property of activity, because, as one resident was quoted, “We’re not interested in going into the Haunted Mansion business.”

The Unix Mansion does rent itself out for events and such. It’s a humdinger of a property, with too-die for ocean views. (There’s tons of images of the property both inside and out in the Gallery on its webpage. I can see why a ghost would want to stay!)

However, my first thoughts were:

  1. A press release? What a publicity stunt!
  2. How is the $1,000 payout going to work? Will they demand a refund if whoever they ultimately reward the money to fails to do what they said they would? Again, smells like PR to me. Someone’s not booking enough events…

I could be wrong about that. Maybe they genuinely are in want of some help.

In case they are, I pasted the full press release below. If you happen to know of a sure-fire way to remove a spook, by all means contact the Unix Mansion. It just may make you $1,000 richer.

The Unix Mansion regularly plays host to events, photo shoots, music videos and more. But recently, an uninvited guest has made several appearances. As a result, the mansion’s residents have launched a search for a ghost hunter who can take care of their paranormal problem.

People who live in the mansion have reported several instances of what feels like otherworldly activity, including thuds, loud noises, and shuffling. All of these occurrences took place at around 3:30 in the morning over the past month. Security camera footage and a search of the house were both inconclusive.

One resident was working late in his home office when an incident occurred.

“I heard a loud pounding sound which was unlike anything I have ever heard before,” he said. “It gave me chills. I’ve been on edge ever since.”

So the tenants of Unix Mansion did what any savvy supernatural hosts would do: they took out an ad on Craigslist. They’re offering $1,000 for the successful removal of the unpleasant poltergeist from the premises.

Many compassionate souls have surfaced in response to the ad. Suggestions have ranged from cheerful singing to leaving lights on to spiritual ceremonies involving energy purification. One paranormal expert said his team would be able to remove the “god-awful undead goon” from the house, but first the mansion’s residents had to go out of town for a few days and “leave money for Pay-Per-View.”

Despite the outpouring of suggestions from people who’ve experienced their own lingering spirits, the residents of Unix Mansion are still searching for the right ghost hunter who can help them with their unique situation.

Said one resident: “We’re not interested in going into the Haunted Mansion business.”

  1. If she is not too afraid of it, she should ask it why it is there. She might not get an answer from it directly, she may have to look for an answer in her dreams. She may be able to assist it, but if not, she should let it know that she can not help it, and ask it to leave. She might ask God to take it away. She also might seek the help of a professional, but make sure she does a background check, some professionals are just in it for money and may make the being more active.

  2. Your friend Tess should start by establishing the rules of the house. Tell the entity what is acceptable and what isn’t. Then stick to the rules. If it doesn’t listen then go through with smudging and most importantly it needs to be something she believes in. If she believes in smudging then smudge, blessings? bless and holy water etc. Belief is the key.
