Haunt Jaunts Contributing to SCARED!’s Haunted Snug Harbor Documentary

SCARED!’s Brian, Chris, and especially Brooke have been amazing to me this past year. Whenever I get a chance to support them and let them know how much I admire and respect them, guess what? I don’t hesitate.  

It recently came to my attention I have the chance to put my money where my mouth is. They’ve gotten a partial grant to help fund their latest project, a documentary about the Snug Harbor Cultural Center in their hometown of Staten Island. However, they’ve also established an IndieGoGo campaign fundraising initiative.

They’ve set up a bunch of categories to give people of any means the chance to help. Here are the contribution categories:

• Bold! ($5 minimum )
• Brave! ($10 minimum)
• Daring! ($25 minimum)
• Fearless! ($50 minimum)
• Courageous! ($75 minimum)
• Noble ($100 minimum)
• Magnificent Valor! ($250 minimum)
• Skilled Psychic! ($500 minimum)
• Vigilant Skeptic! ($500 minimum)
• Dedicated Scientist ($500 minimum)
• Heroic! ($1,000 minimum)

 I love that they used the categories to reflect their team’s philosophy and style. (Because they’re all about integrating the science, skepticism, and psychic angles on their investigations.)

I would absolutely love to contribute to the Heroic! category, but, alas, I don’t roll in that kind of dough. Nor do I have enough to contribute to the Skilled Psychic! category. (I really want a past-life regression session and it would be awesome to get one from Lisa Ann!)

Sadly, at present the best I can do is the Courageous! category. (Thanks to the dumb sheet of ice on the hill by my house that caused me to slide into the side of a rock wall and smash up my poor Nissy. Between paying for the repair deductible and a couple weeks worth of rental car fees…ugh. The poor pocketbook took almost as big a hit as my car!)

However, on their fundraising page they say there are other ways to help. One of them is about sharing this info via whatever means of social networking you use. Hopefully blogging about it and posting it on HJ’s FB page as well as Tweeting about it will count for something too.

Courtney Mroch

Courtney Mroch is a globe-trotting restless spirit who’s both possessed by wanderlust and the spirit of adventure, as well as obsessed with true crime, horror, the paranormal, and weird days. Perhaps it has something to do with her genes? She is related to occult royalty, after all. Marie Laveau, the famous Voodoo practitioner of New Orleans, is one of her ancestors. That could also explain her infatuation with skeletons.
