2 Social Networks for Horror and Paranormal Enthusiasts

Slasher and Haunted Hub horror and paranormal social networks

By now, we’re all familiar with the social networking biggies, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. Some of us are on all of them, while others play favorites. And we may even have our own little cliques or groups that we follow, depending on our specialized interests and how the particular platform is set up. But what about any social networks specifically designed for lovers of all things horror and paranormal? Are there any of those?

Yes! Let’s take a look at Slasher and The Haunted Hub.

Slasher Horror Social Network

Slasher describes itself as “the social network, community, and resource for horror. One look, and you’ll agree that pretty much sums up the app in a spooky nutshell.

Like other social media apps, you can follow people and then like, comment, and share their posts, as well as message friends on Slasher too. But it’s the people who really make this social network what it is. You’ll find all sorts of horror lovers on Slasher, from creatives such as horror artists, musicians, writers, podcasters, and filmmakers to horror movie lovers and everything in between.

However, one thing I will say is that Slasher rates itself R for ages 18+. It also doesn’t have an extensive list of rules, but it has important ones aimed at keeping the network on topic and as amicable as possible.

As far as the app, let’s talk about all that you can do with it. It feels similar feel to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. However, under the Menu area, you’ll find the following five sections, which provide a phenomenal way to connect with other horror fans and content like never before.

Social

You’ll find ways to connect with Friends, Groups, and Dating under the Social section.

Content

This is where you’ll find news, which is provided by Gruesome Magazine, Halloween Daily News, Horror Fix, Horror Oasis, Marketing Macabre, Puzzle Box Horror, and Rue Morgue.

Info

This is where you’ll find their Events listings. You can find horror cons and other activities by date, month, or state in this section.

Discover

Here’s where you’ll find lists of Artists, Books, Movies, Music, and Podcasts. The downside with everything except Movies is that it’s just lists of Artists, Books, Music and Podcasts. You get the names and titles but can’t click through to learn more about them.

However, maybe they’re working on that, and it’ll eventually become more interactive like the Movie area. You can mark movies as a favorite, add them to your watchlist, mark that you’ve watched it, buy it, and/or rate it. And there’s the handy share button if you want to post it to your feed, message it to someone, or share it on another social network.

The Haunted Hub Paranormal Social Network

Unlike Slasher, you can access The Haunted Hub from either a computer or a phone. I didn’t download it to my phone, so I’m not sure how it looks there. However, from the computer, it feels slightly similar to Facebook. Sort of. It really has its own spirit, though.

As with most other social networks, you can like, share and comment on posts in The Haunted Hub too. Under the Discovery tab in the sidebar, you’ll find Top Posts, Members Near You, and Topics. You can also find others to follow in the Members tab. Or send invites to friends either by sharing a link or by entering email addresses.

The About tab explains that a group of paranormal enthusiasts founded the Haunted Hub community in 2012. Since they’re based out of the U.K., that’s where a lot of the other members are from too. But you’ll find others not only from all over the world but investigating internationally too.
