As if I don’t have enough projects on my plate, now I’m thinking about creating a Haunt Jaunts tour.
Actually, I’ve been thinking about this for quite a while. However, I was thinking more along the lines of buying a haunted building and hosting events. (Both non-paranormal and paranormal alike.)
But buying a haunted building is not something my husband is much interested in. Plus, how do we really know it’s haunted? Also, any of the famous, much-storied haunted places around our parts would be way out of our price range anyway –if they even went on sale.
Still, I kept the faith that one day something just right might present itself and I could move forward.
Well, over the weekend my husband, who doesn’t understand my haunt jaunting ways but humors me anyway, joked, “Why don’t I get you your Jeep and you can give tours? That way we can write it off.” (He’s an accountant, so he’s all about writing stuff off if we can.
Suddenly, a light bulb clicked. Why the heck hadn’t I thought of that before? It’s absolutely perfect!
Of course there’s a Home of the Stars Tour. Been around forever. No desire to hone in on that market.
There are already ghost tours of Nashville and Franklin. Never really aspired to run one of those type of tours anyway. I always longed to do something a little bit different, I just never knew what –until now.
My first inclination is a historic homes tour or Civil War tour. There’s already a Civil War and Plantation Tour from Nashville. It takes people to the Carter House and Carnton Plantation and lets them roam around downtown Franklin.
At least we know we’re on to something.
The one thing there isn’t any of right now in Nashville is Jeep tours. Most Jeep tours are more eco or wilderness-centered. We could offer that too.
What I’d really love to do is come up with a tour as clever, fun and entertaining as the NashTrash Tour. There’s nothing paranormal about it. It’s just a good time on a pink bus. (If you’re ever in Nashville and looking for a fun tour, take this one. You’ll love it.) I’m thinking something to do with cemeteries…
It might end up that I scrap the idea of having a Jeep tour in favor of some other vehicle (one that could accommodate more people), but it will definitely involve history and ghosts, both together and separately. (Well, there will be history with ghosts no matter what, but there doesn’t necessarily need to be ghosts on all of the historic tours.)
At any rate, let the planning begin! Stay tuned. You know I’ll make a big To Do when Haunt Jaunts the Tour Company is officially open for business!
