Today’s Movie Monday feature, Death Do Us Part, comes to me courtesy of friend and fellow writer Lisa Logan. In addition to writing fiction, she’s also a Senior Acquisitions Editor for Eternal Press and partner in crime with her husband Mike in their film company, Dragonfyre Entertainment.
They actually wrote, directed, and produced Death Do Us Part, a short zombie film. (Yeah, yeah, I know. Friday I wrote about zombies. Here I am writing about them again today…Hey, what can I say? This is the zombie phase of my life!)
Anyway, as I was catching up on my blog reading Friday night, I came across her post about her movie saved in my RSS feeds. I hadn’t had a chance to watch it yet, so I did. (Her email also had been staring me in the face with the bright red flag I’d marked it with to remind me I needed to watch it. It was nice to finally unflag it!)
Then I thought, “Hey, that’d make a fun Movie Monday post!”
Now I’ll warn you, I had watched a video about the making of, so I was aware the guy in the opening scene was a serial killer. That wasn’t quite clear upon watching, though. (I mean, you know instantly he’s not a good guy, but I was a little confused exactly what was going on until I remembered the serial killer thing.)
And I have to say I was sort of taken aback by the lack of dialogue and (what I perceived to be) the abundance of screaming. Although, on the other hand, it’s been a while since I saw a movie that relied almost exclusively on non-verbal cues. That was sort of fun.
I also think the discovery of the zombie was a little too delayed. It could have come a smidge quicker and enhanced the suspense factor.
However, overall I loved the premise of the dilemma. Abandoned, bound and gagged in the middle of nowhere, chained to a tree with a corpse that suddenly reanimates…now that’s what I call a bad day! It made for a fun, fresh movie.
It’s just over 8 minutes long from start to finish. So for Movie Monday today I’m not just presenting you with a clip, but a complete, not to mention original, film. Enjoy!

I agree. Too much screaming. Is that a normal reaction? I don’t think I’ve ever screamed in my entire life except on a rollercoaster and because everyone else was doing it. Cool idea, though. Thanks for the unique find!
I’d be dead if my mouth was gagged. I can’t breathe through my nose!
But seriously, as far as screaming…I am a screamer. I scream to release pent up frustration, I scream…well, I won’t share that one. I scream if I’m scared, but just one yelp and then I bolt. (Or put up my fists…it depends on the situation.) I have never been bound and gagged and abandoned chained to a tree, nor have I been stuck with a zombie, so I don’t know how I’d react. Some screaming might be likely??? I HOPE I NEVER FIND OUT FOR REAL!!!!!
